Huawei Showcases Impressive Growth and Innovation at HDC.Europe

Huawei, the leading global technology company, has announced a series of business updates and innovations during its annual flagship developer conference HDC.Europe at Web Summit 2022. Over 200 developers and business leaders attended HDC.Europe where Huawei discussed the recent growth of HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS), including its latest technologies and vision for 2023.

Speaking during HDC.Europe, William Tian, President of Europe, Huawei Consumer Business Group, said: “Huawei’s business vision is to give every Huawei consumer an incredible experience with cutting-edge technologies – across both hardware and software. Integrating our innovative devices and collaborative ecosystem has become foundational to the success of our consumer business in Europe. Together with our ecosystem partners, we have solidified our position as the 3rd largest global mobile ecosystem, and are excited to continue innovating and growing in this diverse market.”

AppGallery Celebrates Impressive Growth

AppGallery’s top priority is its investment in its partners to bring great apps to the platform. Since its launch overseas in 2018, the growth of the HMS Ecosystem has happened at an impressive speed. By the end of Q3 2022, AppGallery had more than 580 million monthly active users, 45 million of which were in Europe. In 2021, AppGallery achieved 432 billion app distributions globally, while Huawei’s global developer community has grown to over 6 million developers, resulting in more than 220,000 apps being integrated with HMS Core. The number of apps that can be experienced on HMS smartphones also grew by 147% in 2021.

In pursuit of excellence and as champions of consumer choice, AppGallery continuously provides apps with a global influence, in addition to rich local apps that meet the diverse needs of users everywhere. This includes some of the most popular apps around.

Aiming to retain and attract new users, at HDC.Europe, Huawei announced its brand new AppGallery loyalty program, which rewards users with a myriad of discounts. Users are able to level up and claim discounts of increasing value, downloading new apps, and making in-app purchases. In September 2022, AppGallery was named as the ‘Rising Star’ by Newsweek at the leading international trade show for consumer electronics, IFA 2022, in Berlin. The award is a testament to the quality of the platform and the partners whose apps Huawei delivers.

HUAWEI Ads Secures Quality Traffic & Revenues For Partners

Right across Europe, businesses are facing an increasingly challenging economic environment. Huawei works alongside its partners to implement the most cost-effective solutions for their businesses, allowing them to direct more budget to areas where it’s needed most, such as growing and strengthening their services for users.

Since its launch in 2020, HUAWEI Ads has grown its Advertiser network by 9 times, covering over 200 advertising industries. Meanwhile, Huawei’s Publisher network has grown by 4 times – expecting to grow again by the same amount in 2023. HUAWEI Ads now has over 60 Certified Agencies globally, a third of which are in Europe, such as AppSamurai and AVOW.

Quality Traffic and Quality First Party Data are key focuses for HUAWEI Ads, and this commitment has already been recognised by the industry. HUAWEI Ads recently announced its partnership with Integral Ad Science – the Top Brand Safety Partner globally – for quality traffic verification, and it’s also received Key Industry Certifications such as the IAB Europe Certified Vendor and TAG Certification Against Fraud. The quality of HUAWEI Ads campaigns has also been recognised by App Growth Awards and Digiday Awards, where Huawei was announced as a finalist.

Huawei is currently reaching 3 billion daily Ad requests and expect that to continue to grow by approximately another 400% in 2023. Beyond Huawei Ads, there are many other business growth opportunities which Huawei has built. After launching on AppGallery, many apps have integrated with HMS apps to deliver a better digital, inter-connected experience for users. This means that Huawei can offer enhanced experiences around searching, navigation, and payment. Take users of Petal Maps and Petal Search for example, who can explore a wealth of information using state-of-the-art technology and through leading travel and navigation apps, such as Skyscanner and Booking.com.

Committed to Continuous Innovation

The importance of providing choice to consumers is a core principle of Huawei’s. During 2022, HMS gained many exciting new partnerships in co-innovation, cross-services monetization, and more, opening up new opportunities for users and partners in HMS’s expanding, collaborative ecosystem.

During HDC.Europe, Huawei invited a number of partners on-stage to share their own vision and successful business stories. Topics included the Smart integration of HiAI Engine & Camera Engine (RECnGO), Ads Challenges & Opportunities in 2022, (FLASHCORE, LIMITLESS, ADMOST), and Petal Search’s Innovative Integration (YieldKit, Zeropark). After HDC.Europe, Huawei’s annual AppGallery Editors’ Choice Awards and ‘Grow with Huawei’ Award were also held, celebrating the best apps and partners of the year across a variety of categories.

A Bright Future – Innovative Devices & A Collaborative Ecosystem

Huawei always puts the consumer at the heart of its activities, combing the strands of its expertise to deliver an ‘added value’ experience. Through its innovative hardware features and growing ecosystem, Huawei strives to support its partners by providing localised services and support – particularly in developing countries.

Commenting on this year’s conference, Jaime Gonzalo, VP of Huawei Mobile Services Europe, said: “In the uncertain times that our society is facing, we are committed, more than ever, to working alongside our partners to answer to the needs of our users across all kinds of digital scenarios. As we move into 2023 and beyond, it will be vital that we keep innovating and growing together. This is something we’ve successfully achieved in recent years, and we will remain dedicated to providing seamless experiences for all our users, both now and in the future, always at the service of a better society for everyone.”
