From Blog to Global SaaStock Conference: Alex Theuma

When Alex Theuma, founder of SaaStock, started his blog for the SaaS industry, he had no idea that it would one day be Europe’s best SaaS festival.

It hasn’t been a totally linear journey. However, it’s one that will no doubt be studied by other event creators that will come after him. I sat down with Alex and spoke to him about how he propelled his blog forward step by step, what is new this year for SaaStock Dublin 2024.

A Solid SaaStock Community Following

Originally, Alex continually saw gaps in the market for SaaS communities on different channels. He started off with a community-led blog called SaaScribe. He wanted that blog to be a home for the SaaS startup community to have an open dialogue and to find resources to become experts in the B2B SaaS world.

Once that channel was successful, he started transitioning to other channels where community is valuable. Channels like his podcast, The SaaS Revolution show as well as his SaaS founder meetup networking events. His audience kept following him through to different channels. This says a lot about the strength of his community from the very beginning.

The SaaS community was quite underserved and didn’t really have a place like the one Alex was offering for people to learn from experts, network with each other and brainstorm new ideas, without a vendor behind it to push their product or service.

SaaStock, With Networking as the New Focus

This year marks the eighth anniversary of the SaaStock conference. There have been several special moments tied back to SaaStock, and even the virtual version of SaaStock that happened during Covid is one to remember.

Networking has always been a key ingredient for all of Alex’s business initiatives, and networking has played an important role in SaaStock’s growth. So naturally, it’s a massive part of how he’s designing the next edition of SaaStock.

Networking is one of the biggest differentiators SaaStock has. When the conference first started, there was a gap in the market for SaaS conferences. But now, of course the market is saturated with other global players. SaaStock’s unique selling point is that they’ve always focused on connections as their top priority. Other conferences prioritise the best in class talks. Alex always makes sure to curate great talks but is most interested in creating amazing networking opportunities. This year, Alex and his team are 10x that focus.

Community Research Has Spoken

Alex and his team spoke to hundreds of people in their community – from SaaS founders, operators, and investors to podcast guests and SaaStock founder members. A common thread that everyone seems to have on their minds is that the market is moving at the fastest pace it ever has. AI (like our new AI SDR, Nova!) is a big reason for this, but it’s also challenges like funding and GTM strategies.

People want to know how to overcome challenges like these as fast as possible. And what’s the fastest way to do this? Connecting with the right problem solvers, sharing knowledge with your SaaS peers, and building a strong network of people in the industry.

SaaStock Dublin is set to offer a wide range of experiences tailored to your company’s stage of growth. From exclusive networking events like the speed networking experience Connect & Go, to insightful workshops for cross-functional up-skilling like the Operator Masterclasses and CEO Coaching, there’s so many opportunities to meet your next life-changing connection.
