How do virtual fitting rooms work?

Goodstyle.app explained to us exactly how virtual fittings work.
Goodstyle.app shared the evolution of virtual fitting rooms.

Nowadays artificial intelligence is a burning issue and the main engine of digital business transformation. Virtual fitting rooms are not an innovation in online retail today. However, this topic worries retailers, they are interested in implementing virtual fitting.

In general, the Japanese brand Uniqlo was one of the first to use the technology in 2012. Then the fitting rooms in their stores were equipped with LCD screens with augmented reality. Customers of the store could choose clothes from the catalog and “try on” them on their reflection.

The rise of smartphones has made it relevant to create applications that help people try on clothes online without leaving home. For example, Converse had offered to see how their sneakers would look on the user’s foot-long time ago. The startup platform Wannaby, which created the Wanna Kicks app, is also famous for virtual shoe fitting. The assortment of the company includes several brands, and using a camera, you can choose shoes that match your fit. This technology was implemented in their Gucci application. The Italian brand offered to try on the sneakers from the new collection and then buy them through its official app.

The Goodstyle app uses the same mechanics. For example, users can try on the clothes from Shein. In addition to virtual fitting, the user gets the opportunity to combine garments, create complete looks and manage a virtual wardrobe.

Services for virtual fitting are improving every year. Goodstyle said that it is focussing on creating SDK service for B2B sector that will be delivered on a SaaS basis. Retailers will be able to embed the fitting module into their websites, which will significantly improve the customer experience by trying on clothes before buying and the function to create whole look by combining clothes. Business owners will get an increase in the average receipt and a decrease in the burden on logistics, as the number of returns will be significantly reduced. All this will take e-commerce to a new level.

The Combyne service operates on the American market and solves the problem of combining clothes by digitizing the use of fashion. An overloaded wardrobe, lack of time, absence of a dressing room where you can study and experiment can stress a customer. Combyne analyzes trends on social media and then imitates the sentiments of bloggers.

An equally interesting solution is Getwardrobe, outfit planning and smart closet organizing app for iOS, Android and Web. It is a multi-platform service with a social networking function. It allows you not only to upload photos of your clothes, but also to sort them by category, as well as by purpose: you can select wardrobe items for work, sports, home and special occasions. The application also helps to compose sets of outfits from the user’s clothes. There are much more of them than a person can imagine.
